A Truly Spectacular Holiday Home With Facilities And Views That Are Worth Every Penny!
My husband and I spent a memorable week at this stunning holiday property late February 2018 to mark the beginning of his 60th birthday year celebrations and it did not disappoint! From the moment we drove up the sweeping driveway and saw Brunt House sitting majestically overlooking the gateway to the Langdales we knew we were somewhere very special. Once inside, the late afternoon sunlight flooded in through the vast sandstone windows and I’m sure we would have been happy just sitting in the comfortable leather armchairs in the kitchen gazing out to the mountains in the distance all week did we not have such a huge wanderlust to get outside and climb them! And based here, you are in the perfect position to do just that – we didn’t even need to get the car out with so many footpaths available from the front door. The lovely little town of Ambleside is just a mile and a half away either by car or foot (via the Loughrigg hills behind the house – beautiful!) and the well known and much visited Britannia Inn is a very short distance away in one of our favourite villages – Elterwater, which is also an excellent venue to make your ascent up onto The Langdale Pikes. After wearing ourselves out every day in the hills, Brunt House offered the perfect home from home to return to – a kitchen with every possible implement the cook in the family needs to create a hearty evening meal, a large and welcoming log burner to toast your toes by whilst relaxing in the luxurious Italian leather sofas, an upstairs games room where the kids can escape to and three absolutely fabulous bedrooms each with state of the art en-suite bathroom facilities to mirror those of the most high class hotels in the area.
There are also large TV’s in every room with Netflix available and plenty of books to read should you not have dozed off warmly by the roaring fire!! We chose to sleep in the main bedroom which was the most glorious space especially when the late afternoon sun flooded through the huge window and invited you to lie down for a while to recover from a full day’s walking in the fells. And the bed….well, quite possibly the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in with such sumptuous cotton sheets. The attention to detail at Brunt House is second to none and nothing has been over looked in providing everything a modern family could possibly want in a holiday home. We loved the welcome basket of bread and other necessities, champagne in the fridge and a beautiful bouquet of flowers tastefully arranged on the kitchen work place. The little signs that told us which light switch turned on which light was a very helpful addition too!! The only thing we found difficult was having to leave at the end of such a memorable stay (well, that and deciding which bedroom to sleep in…..!!) Thank you so much Brunt House, we will most definitely return in the future.
